Rene Guadarrama Returns for WWCC in 2019

 Rene Guadarrama from Willard Utah and a graduate from Fremont High will again play college soccer for Western Wyoming and the Mustangs.

Rene had a very solid freshman campaign for the Mustangs.  Rene primarily played in the midfield.  He was useful in the fact that he could play a defensive mid, an attacking mid and even an outside midfielder.  On rare occasions Rene even found time as a forward for WWCC.  In the fall of 2018 Guadarrama amassed the following stats, 9 Shots, 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 5 Fouls, 10 Starts and 32 Halves Played.

In the winter months and the spring season Rene worked to better his physical and soccer abilities.  He worked hard in the weight room, during indoor soccer and again out on the spring soccer pitch.  Rene participated in all the WWCC Springs scrimmages and found good combination play with many of his midfield teammates.  This type of connection will pay off big time for the Mustangs in the fall.

Academically Guadarrama is doing well and should be able to finish up his Associate's Degree by May of 2020.  We at Western hope to see more consistency from Rene as he puts in the work day in and day out for WWCC.  Rene could be a vital part of the team's attack this year if he is up for the challenge of leading the Mustangs on the field.  Congratulations on a stellar freshman year and good luck on an even better sophomore campaign. 

Alatorre from GRHS now a WWCC Mustang

Christian Alatorre a 2018 graduate from Green River High in Green River Wyoming will play college soccer for the Mustangs of WWCC in the fall of 2019.

While in high school Christian was twice named a captain for a season for the GRHS Wolves, during his junior and senior year.  During those years he also scored 7 goals and had 4 assists.  For his hardwork Alatorre was named to the 4A West All Region Team in 2017 and 2018.  After his senior year he was also named to the 4A All State Second Team.

During his high school career Alatorre was part of the 2017 GRHS team that placed third at the 4A West Regional Tournament and followed that trophy with a fourth place finish at the Wyoming State Cup.  In the spring 2018 season Alatorre and the GRHS team were 4A West Regional Champions and placed third at the WHSAA 4A State Tournament.

Christian Alatorre was a student at WWCC for the spring 2019 semester and started training with the Mustangs during the spring semester.  Christian played as a midfielder and a forward for WWCC in the spring scrimmages.  He performed very well and earned a spot onto the team this fall.  Western knows that Alatorre can play any of the attacking positions well.  We are excited to add such a strong student and athlete to the team.  Welcome Christian.

Christian Perdomo Officially a Mustang

Christian Perdomo from Farr West Utah will lace up the boots to play for the Western Wyoming Mustangs this fall.  Christian is a 2016 graduate from Fremont High School.

Perdomo played soccer with the Fremont High team for his sophomore year.  In the spring of 2014 the Silverwolves had a great run in the UHSAA 5A playoffs that ended as the Runners-up in the championship match.

Beside playing for his high school, Christian also played with the comp team La Roca.  Perdomo played with La Roca from 2012 until 2016.  As a member of the La Roca team he traveled to tournament around Utah, Nevada and California, winning several.

Christian played with the Mustangs during the spring 2019 scrimmage season.  He is a great teammate and a hard worker on the field.  He mainly played as a center defensive mid for WWCC in the spring but also saw action as an outside defender and in other areas of the midfield.  Christian possesses a good long range shot and understands the tactics very well.  Christian is not just excited to play in a fall season for the Mustangs but to also play along with him brother Brandon Perdomo in the Red, Black and White.  Welcome to the Western Wyo team Christian.

Keeper Jaron Adams With Western

Jaron Adams, Juan Diego High class of in 2019, has decided to continue his soccer playing career with the Mustangs of Western Wyoming Community College.

Adams is a goal keeper.  Jaron played all four years for Juan Diego High Soccer.  During his freshman year JDHS were the UHSAA 3A State Champs.  Juan Diego High also played in the championship match and advanced to the semifinals during Jaron's playing career.  During his time as a Soaring Eagle only 18 goals were scored against Adams.

Jaron has experience in the net outside of playing for JDHS.  He started playing soccer at the age of five and started playing keeper at nine years old.  At ten, Jaron started to play competition soccer and through the years he played with Utah Glory, Blue Knights, Ajax Utah FC and the Utah Soccer Alliance.  Recently, Jaron was the youngest keeper invited to tryout for the USL2 side Park City Red Wolves SC.

Off of the field Jaron enjoys playing video games and is always ready for a pick up game of soccer.  Adams has volunteered with Rescue Rovers since he was twelve years old.  As a volunteer with the Rescue Rovers he transports, bathes and temporarily fosters dogs.

Western Wyoming is so happy to add Jaron to our team this year.  He impressed us in his tryout in January on the WWCC campus in Rock Springs WY.  He has great fundamentals and organizes his back line quickly.  He has great potential as a college keeper.  Jaron showed off his fast reflexes and anticipation while at our tryout.  We believe Jaron will compete for playing time this season and add depth to a great group of Mustang keepers this fall.

Matthew Braden Keeper from Bonneville Joins WWCC

Matthew Braden a 2019 graduate from Bonneville High in Washington Terrace Utah has joined the Western Wyoming Men's Soccer team in Rock Springs Wyoming.

Matthew is a keeper who has found success both on and off of the field.  For the Lakers of BHS he played all four years of high school soccer.  He was a two year letter winner for Bonneville.  During his senior season he recorded seven shutouts for BHS.  Matthew was awarded the Most Improved award for the Lakers this spring.  During his junior year, 2018 Braden was part of the BHS team that won their Region regular season title and advanced to the UHSAA 4A quarterfinals.

Matthew also played comp soccer.  He played with Rampage, who were in the P2 division when he played for them.  Matthew has been invited to play in several tournaments with teams in Las Vegas.  While playing on these teams in these tournaments Matthew and his teams won two medals.


In the classroom Matthew was an honor roll student at BHS, his GPA average in high school was a 3.6.  He was also a member of the Student Government.  Matthew was in the student government three years.  During his service for the BHS Student Government he focused on student activities and other student fundraisers.

We at Western are super excited for the addition of Matthew Braden to our ranks.  He will provide competition and depth at the keeper position.  His height and reach are beneficial to his role as a keeper.  He is a good shot stopper and we look forward to seeing his growth as a player and a person during his two years at Western Wyoming.

Sophomore Kingdom Wanjoku Returns for Mustangs

Kingdom Wanjoku a rising sophomore for the Mustangs of Western Wyoming has agreed to play his second year of college soccer.

Kingdom was a big part of the 2018 Mustangs.  Wanjoku amassed 20 Shots, 1 Goal, 1 Assist, 13 Fouls, 17 Starts and 44 Halves Played.  He played in every half of every match/scrimmage the Mustangs had in 2018.  Kingdom mainly played as an outside midfielder.  He also saw action in the course of the year as an outside defender, attacking mid, defensive mid and even as a forward.

In the spring season of 2019 Kingdom was able to show his leadership skills.  He was appointed as a captain for the spring team and fulfilled his role very well.  In the spring scrimmages he equaled his fall total with 1 goal and 1 assist.  During the spring again Kingdom played primarily as an outside midfielder but also was helpful for the Mustangs as an outside back and in the center of the midfielder.

Wanjoku is on track to graduate in the spring of 2020.  He does a great job with his grades and keeps up on his studies.  In the fall of 2018 Kingdom was a member of the Dean's Honor Roll at WWCC.  Kingdom should have a wonderful year for the Mustangs as he continues to improve as a player on the field and grows as a man and a leader off of the field.  Welcome back Kingdom.

Western Wyoming Welcomes Edgar Galvez

Edgar Galvez a recent graduate from Layton High in Layton Utah will be playing for Mustang soccer at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY.

Edgar had a superb high school career for the Layton High Lancers.  During the spring 2017 season, his sophomore year, the LHS soccer team won the UHSAA 5A State Championship in penalty shootout.  His junior year the Layton High team qualified for the 6A State Tournament bowing out in the first round.  During his senior year Edgar scored two goals and had three assists for the Lancers.  In the spring of 2019 Edgar and the Lancers finished 2nd in the regular season for Region I and advanced to the 6A UHSAA Quarterfinals.

Beside playing for Layton High, Edgar also played with Gremio FC for three years.  During his time with Gremio he played in many matches and tournaments include playing in Oregon, Colorado and Nevada.  Galvez was also part of the Xolos de Tijuana were he part of the squad that won the President's Cup in Mesquite NV and placing second place in the President's Cups in Colorado and Utah.

Galvez received a Certificate of Excellence in May of 2019 from the Latinos In Action group.  A fond memory Edgar has while playing soccer is when he went to Pachuca Mexico for a tryout and played during a magnitude 7.1 earthquake.

Edgar came to the Western Wyoming campus during the spring and impressed in his tryout.  We feel that Edgar could play a vital role in the WWCC attack.  He has the versatility to play as an outside mid, an attacking mid or a forward.  We are excited to add this excellent young man to the Mustang Soccer Family.  Good luck to Edgar Galvez during his academic and athletic career at Western Wyoming Community College?
