On Wednesday in Cheyenne WY the WWCC Mustangs squared off against Region IX foe Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles. The Mustangs played a very inspired game but fell behind by a goal at the half. The LCCC goal was scored off of a penalty kick. With the Mustangs seeing more of the ball in the second half they also saw more opportunities to score. The first WWCC goal came from Allen Deru when he took the space he was allowed and connected on a gorgeous shot from 25 or so yards that found the upper ninety of the goal. Deru's goal was unassisted as he touched the ball several times before he shot the ball. WWCC's first goal came in the 59th minute. The game winning goal was provided by the Mustang's Erik Stembridge when he headed a great cross over the outstretched arms of the keeper. Stembridge's goal was assisted by Kota Kimura. The game winning goal came in the 75th minute. The Mustangs were able to secure the win by playing good solid defense the rest of the match. This was not only the Mustangs first Region IX win this year but also the first time in the team's history to defeat their rival LCCC.Overall Record - (8 - 7 - 0) - Region IX (1 - 3 - 0)
