One is Enough for WWCC

On Saturday in Cedar City Utah the Mustangs of WWCC squared off against the T-Birds of Southern Utah University. It was a game that WWCC controled for the vast majority of the match but were unable to put points on the board to put away the game. WWCC had 30 shots in the match, including 7 shots from Joe Lake. The SUU keepers were forced to make 18 saves. While the T-Birds were limited to only 8 shots in 90 minutes. And Taylor Whetman from WWCC saved 5 shots in 90 minutes. It was just one of those days finishing for the Mustangs as the seemed to be a little unlucky in the offensive third. The SUU keepers did make some good saves and the Mustangs did hit the woodwork on numerous times. However the lone goal of the match was scored by the Mustangs in the 31st minute. The goal was scored by Mika Goodman when he was fed a pass from Taylor Ford.
Even in the second half when tempers flared on both sides the WWCC defense was up to the task of SUU and kept them off of the scoreboard. Unfortunately WWCC was forced to play with 10 players for the final 15 minutes when one of their forwards was red carded. But they still held on for the one goal victory. This was Taylor Whetman's second shutout of the season as the keeper, and runs his shutout streak to 230 minutes of soccer. The Mustangs improve to 2 wins and a loss on the young 2009 season.
