Western Wyo MSOC Starts Spring 2019 Scrimmage Schedule

On Saturday in Salt Lake the Western Wyoming Community College Spring 2019 team kicked off their scrimmage season with a friendly against the University of Utah Club Soccer team.

Sophomores for the Mustangs in the spring are; Josh Rawson and Kade Moeller.  Freshmen remaining from the 2018 fall team are; Justin Pfeil, Kayden Freeland, Jackson Monk, Ryan Arevalo, Kingdom Wanjoku, Colton Mathys, Zaxton Hillman, Rene Guadarrama, Nicaise Kangah, Jaymin Carroll and Nic Kautzman.  Newcomers to the spring team on this day were; Vicente Acosta, Lucas Sa, Christian Alatorre, Adrian Ancanya and Javier Arvayo.

Western's midfield play was a bright note for the team.  Finding a lot of possession and challenging all balls in the middle of the pitch.  The forwards worked well together and combined multiple times.  The backline played at a high level along with keeper Nic Kautzman.  The WWCC defense struggled to clear balls played into the box as conceded 4 goals on the day.  WWCC scored 1 goal in the second half when Kingdom Wanjoku found Kade Moeller when buried the opportunity cleanly in the back of the net.  WWCC had other opportunities on the day including a great snap header from Javier Arvayo in the dying moments of the match.  The final score of the scrimmage was 4 U of U and 1 WWCC.

The Mustangs will be back in action this spring when they host the University of Wyoming Club team at Rock Springs Junior High at 4:00pm on Saturday 3/30.
