The scrimmages were held on the turf of Rock Springs High. The first scrimmage was an intersquad scrimmage. The players were split into a White and a Red team based on their fitness scores for the spring, all the odd places in the fitness test were on the White squad and the even places were on the red squad. Members of the White squad were; Taylor Egbert, Chad Englert, Taylor Chesnovar, Mitch Christensen, Erik Stembridge, Kortny Lancaster, Andrew Newbold, Logan Anderson, Devin King, Ashenafi Ngati, Joshua Arugana and Max Duron. Members of the Red squad were; Mitchell Cooper, Angel Muniz, Carson Broadhead, Cody Nice, Steven Shelley, Christian Mendoza, Jarom Stuart, Richard Harris, Spencer Mohlman, Patrick Ritter, Matt Robles and Gilbert Gonzalez.
Scoring in the intersquad scrimmage was fast and furious. The final score was Red squad 9 - White squad 8. In the first half the Red squad scored the first 3 goals, the goals were from Christian Mendoza and Steven Shelley with 2. The White squad stormed back with 2 of there own goals, Andrew Newbold scored on a header and Logan Anderson finished off the scoring. The halftime score was Red 3 - White 2. The scoring rate increased in the second half with White's Taylor Egbert scoring early to tie the score briefly between the 2 squads. Steven Shelley (Red squad) scored his hat trick from a nice pass from Ritchie Harris to pull Red back on tip 4 - 3. The White squad scored the next two goals to even the scrimmage and pull ahead, the White squad's goals were from Devin King off of a deflected free kick and another goal from Taylor Egbert. These 2 goals gave White a temporary lead of 5 - 4. The Red squad and Steven Shelley quickly tied the match at 5 goals a piece. The White squad was awarded a penalty kick and Mitch Christensen stepped up and put it past Matt Robles, goalie of the Red Squad. The scrimmage's next 3 goals came from the Red squad, Gilbert Gonzalez tied the match again, Jarom Stuart scored off of a free kick and Ritchie Harris scored off of an assist from Steven Shelley. These goals gave the Red squad a 8 - 6 lead. The White squad would not quit and Ashenafi Ngati scored off of an assist by Taylor Egbert to make it 8 - 7. Steven Shelley then scored seconds after the kick-off from a Ritchie Harris pass to get his 5th goal of the match and give Red a lead of 9 - 7. The White squad scored with moments left from Devin King to bring them within 1 goal. Matt Robles had to make a great save in the closing seconds to insure a wild 9 - 8 victory for the Red squad. Man of the match; Steven Shelley (5 goals 1 assist).
About an hour after the intersquad scrimmage the WWCC spring 2012 team squared off against the WWCC Alumni and Sophomores. The WWCC Alumni team were; Angel Muniz (class of 2012), Spencer Mohlman (class of 2012), Ashby McCort (class of 2007), Stephen Taggart (class of 2006), Matt Robles (class of 2005), Patrick Ritter (class of 2008), Charley Lifferth (class of 2011), Jesus Ramirez (class of 2011), Mitch Christensen (class of 2012), Braxton Hamilton (class of 2011), Gilbert Gonzalez (class of 2010), Devin King (class of 2012), Nathaniel Sellis (class of 2012) and Taylor Whetman (class of 2011). The scoring was still high in this scrimmage just not as wild as the one before. WWCC scored the first 3 goals of the match, two of these goals were from Andrew Newbold with assists from Taylor Chesnovar and Logan Anderson. The 3rd goal was from Taylor Egbert. The Alumni stormed back and scored the next 3 goals to even the score. The Alumni goals were from; Devin King, Gilbert Gonzalez and Angel Muniz. The WWCC team would not be denied and Taylor Egbert added his second goal for the match with Logan Anderson adding his second assist of the half. The halftime score was WWCC 4 - Alumni 3. The next 2 goals of the scrimmage were from the WWCC team, scored by Logan Anderson and Taylor Egbert. Egbert's third goal of the scrimmage was assisted by Jarom Stuart. The lead for WWCC was increased to 6 - 3. The Alumni tallied one more time as Nathaniel Sellis scored from an assist from Devin King. Ritchie Harris added a final goal, he was assisted by Taylor Egbert. The final score of the scrimmage was WWCC 7 - Alumni 4. Man of the match - Taylor Egbert (3 goals 1 assist). Next up for the Mustangs - Start of 2012 Fall training camp - around the 1st week of August.
