On Saturday April 18th the Western Wyoming Community College played a spring soccer scrimmage against the Utah State Men's Soccer in Rock Springs Wyoming at Rock Springs Junior High.
Sadly for WWCC, USU came out quickly and added two early goals in the first half against the Mustangs. After about 10 minutes the match settled down and was a very good scrimmage. Western was unlucky not to score on a Taylor Flitton free kick in the first half. But did score off of a Landon Jacobsen header from a Flitton assist. The halftime score was 2 -1 for Utah State.
In the second half of the scrimmage the Mustangs again started slow and gave up an early goal to put themselves in a 3 - 1 whole. The Aggies scored again to give them a 3 goal lead. WWCC fought back and scored a goal from a penalty kick by Colton Cottrell, the penalty was drawn by a great play in the box by Gunner Burrell. The scrimmage got very exciting when Riley Gibson scored in the last 5 minutes to bring the score to 3 - 4 in favor of USU. When the Mustangs looked to go forward and score a tying goal, they were countered and allowed another goal from USU for a final score of 3 - 5 for the Utah State Aggies.
