Conner had an awesome senior year, starting for the Layton High team that won the Region 1 regular season championship in 5A Utah Soccer. Conner and the LHS Lancers had their last two seasons stopped in the 5A State Semi-finals. This season losing 1 - 0 to the eventual state runners-up Brighton High.
Cutler has good size, speed and athleticism. He will most likely be asked to play as an outside defender for the Mustangs this season. Conner possesses the skill and the attacking disposition to help us out as an outside midfielder or even an defensive center mid.
We were very impressed with Conner's ability both in his tryout at Western and in the matches that we saw hm play including the State Semi-finals. He is not afraid to play physical but makes sure that he does not put his team at risk. His positioning is spot on to help us build our attacks and add depth from wide positions.
Another strength to Conner's game is his heading ability. We expect him to clear many headers for the Mustang defense this year and to hopefully get a shot or two on frame from set pieces.
Conner is the younger brother of Nate Cutler who will also be playing on the squad this fall. This will be the first brother combination to play at the same time for the Western Wyoming Soccer team.
We know that by adding Conner Cutler to the Western Wyoming Soccer Family we are adding a quality person, student and soccer player. The sky is the limit for this young man and we anticipate many great things from him.
