Mitch Jensen who played for Western Wyoming Community College in 2012 has returned from serving an LDS mission in England and has agreed to again play for the Mustangs in 2015. Jensen is a 2012 graduate of Davis High in Kaysville Utah.
As a freshman in 2012 Jensen had a banner year. Not only was Mitch a 1st Team All Region IX Keeper but was also voted as the NJCAA National Tournament Keeper while WWCC competed at the tournament in Albany GA.
During 2012 Mitch compiled the following stats; 168 Saves, 38 Goals Allowed, 81% Save Percentage, 28 Starts, 53 Halves Played, 15 Wins and 4 Shutouts. Mitch also saw some action as a field player in 2012, his stats were; 4 Shots, 2 Goals and 1 Half Played.
Mitch possesses all the intangibles for a keeper to have success, his quick reactions saves are super quick. He has speed to quickly close down on through balls and attacking players. Jensen's vertical leaping ability is superb. Probably the most impressive qualities he has are the ability to read the game ahead of him and his leadership on and off of the field.
Western is hoping for another great year for Mitch on and off of the field. He has the ability to be one of the better keepers in the NJCAA this year. He is one of many sophomores on the 2015 team that need to play his game and lift the level of play of those around him.
A record that Mitch holds at Western is blocking 10 penalty kicks during 1 season. This does include 2 penalty kick shootouts in post season play. Mitch won 14 matches in a year as keeper and we hope to add onto that total this year.
