#17 TSJC Too Strong for WWCC in the 2nd Half

The last semi-final of the day in Denver CO on Saturday was between the Trinidad State JC Trojans and the Western Wyoming CC Mustangs.  The two teams squared off twice before this season with TSJC winning both matches.

As usual the TSJC team came up with a fast pace looking for an early goal.  Sadly for the Mustangs the Trojans got a goal in the 11th minute to take an early lead.  The Mustangs would not give up in the first half and battled back in what was an extremely quick played match.  In the 38th minute Ty Nielsen off of a free kick found once again the head of team captain Tanner Trumble to directed the ball into the back corner of the goal for a match tying goal.  The halftime score was a tie 1 to 1.

The Mustangs decided to try a more offensive approach against the Trojans in the second half to try to actually get a lead and beat the TSJC team.  Unfortunately the gamble did not pay off and left the WWCC defense exposed to a counter attacking Trojan team with very fast and physical forwards.  TSJC scored four times in the second half, most coming from long direct balls on counter attacks.  The TSJC goals came in the 62nd, 67th, 81st and 87th minute.  The final score of the match was 5 to 1 for the Trojans.  The final overall record for the 2016 Mustangs was 9 - 9 - 2.

Mustang Men of the Match:  Tanner Trumble and Kyle Mivshek.  Tanner for the lone WWCC goal.  Kyle for keeping the Mustangs in the match with a single game record for saves for WWCC.
