Daniel Pelayo from Blackfoot High School in Blackfoot Idaho has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his soccer career at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY.
Daniel is a goalkeeper who minded the nets for the Blackfoot Broncos. He helped lead the Broncos to the Idaho 4A State Soccer Tournament in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Pelayo was a starter for BHS during their state tournament runs in 2015 and 2016. In 2016 Pelayo and the BHS Broncos fell to the eventual champs in the state semi-finals. During his senior season Daniel and the BHS team only conceded 13 goals in 14 games the least amount of any Idaho 4A or 5A high school. Daniel also recorded 6 shutouts during his final high school season. Daniel Pelayo was named on the First Team All-Conference, Post Register First Team All-Area, and Idaho State Journal Second Team All-Area.
“I feel like I’m blessed to be able to do this sport at the next level,” Pelayo said. “I’m just excited to be able to play ball.”
Daniel will come onto a Western Wyoming team that needs some stability in the goalkeeping position. He will have a chance to compete for a starting position from the start of training camp. His height, quick reflexes and team organization will help his chances to lead the Mustang defense and back line. Daniel's academic pursuits include Biology and Electrician. We expect big things out of Daniel as a player and a leader for the team in 2017 and beyond.
