Second Sophomore Striker of 2017 - Josh Abplanalp

Josh Abplanalp a 2014 graduate from Morgan High in Morgan Utah will again be a part of the Western Wyoming CC Men's Soccer team for the fall 2017 season.

Josh is an attacking player who had a great career at Morgan High and Wasatch Soccer Club.  Josh primarily played as a forward and an attacking mid for club and high school.  After high school Josh served a 2 year LDS mission in Peru.

As a freshmen Josh amassed 15 Shots, 5 Goals, 22 Fouls, 11 Starts, and 44 Halves Played.  Josh played almost exclusively as a striker for the Mustangs.  Josh was a Region IX North Second Team forward for his work during his first year at WWCC.  He did most of his scoring against other Region IX North teams.  Scoring against Sheridan College in both meetings and also in the home match versus Northwest College.

In the spring 2017 scrimmage season Abplanalp scored three goals.  Scoring against the U of U club team, the winning score versus UVU club and in the Red vs White scrimmage.

Josh does a great job of using his speed and size to put immediate pressure on the back line of the opposition.  Josh has created many a dangerous situation from pressing the ball.  We are still working with Josh to improve his speed of play with the ball at his feet, to improve his timing with his teammates.  We would also like to see him use his other teammates in the attack and accrue some assists in the 2017 fall season.

We are so excited to have Josh return to continue to be a consistent attacking force for Western.  Abplanalp is set to have a record year as he continue to improve and understand the team concepts we are trying to teach.  We are so happy to welcome back Josh Abplanalp.
