Danny Becerra from Jackson Wyoming has again committed to play soccer at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY for his sophomore year. Danny was a 2016 graduate from JHHS in Jackson and had a stellar high school career.
Danny's freshman year for the Mustangs was a great one for Becerra. During the 2016 season Danny mainly played as an outside defender. He played as the left back for the WWCC team. Becerra had 16 Shots, 2 Assists, 17 Fouls, 21 Starts, 46 Halves Played during his first year at Western. Both of his assists on the season came and clutch times for the Mustangs. Danny's first assist was for a late game winning goal against Air Force Prep and his second assist was the lone goal of the day when WWCC hosted Sheridan College. Becerra was also a part of the game tying goal in the Region IX quarterfinals when his ball was the secondary assist to Grayson Barnes' first goal on the day.
Danny also received accolades from his teammates and opposing teams and coaches for his 2016 season. Danny was voted as the 2016 WWCC Men's Soccer Defensive MVP. Becerra was also a 2016 Honorable Mention All Region IX North Defensive player.
In the spring season Danny continued to improve and grow as a player and a team leader. In the Mustang's Intersquad scrimmage to end the spring 2016 season Danny volunteered to play keeper for his team. Even though his team missed his skills as a field player on the day he stepped up and played his role for the day very well.
As we look forward to the 2017 fall season we know that Danny Becerra can hold done the left back or right back position for WWCC. He has the motor to get up and done the field along with the skills to match any attacking player that he may face. We are happy to have Danny back with Western Wyoming Soccer for the 2017-2018 school year.
