On Saturday in Scottsbluff NE, the WWCC Mustangs faced off against the Iowa Western Reivers. The game saw the IWCC team play better at the start of the game and take a 2 - 0 half time lead. The Mustangs played better in the second half but once again saw the Reivers score two goals for a commanding 4 - 0 lead with thirty minutes to go.The final half an hour of the match saw the Mustangs mount a spirited comeback. It started when Chris Byers found Devin King on a great ball up the middle that King put into the net. Next with seven minutes left in the match, Devin King was fouled in the penalty area and Chris Byers stepped up and finished the opportunity. The Mustangs scored their third goal with three minutes left in the match when Chase Talbot passed to a sprinting Chris Byers who pushed the ball past the keeper and into the goal. The remaining three minutes saw the Reivers try to defend and hold off the momentum of the Mustangs. A WWCC goals was scored with 1:00 left by Chase Talbot, however the officials ruled that the goalie had control of the ball when it was kicked into the net, so the goal was not allowed. With too little time, the Mustangs could not muster another goal to force the improbable extra time between the two teams. So the score stood after 90 minutes IWCC 4 - WWCC 3.
