On Saturday in Coeur d'Alene ID the North Idaho College Cardinals used the last three minutes of the first half to put away the visiting Mustangs from WWCC. The Cardinals scored first in the 8th minute when they found a space in the WWCC defense and hit one past Mika Goodman the Mustang keeper. The Cardinals did see more possession of the ball in the first half but were not able to score until the 40th minute. A snowball effect happened as NIC piled on two more goals very quickly in the 41st and the 42nd minute. The first three goals for the Cardinals were the direct result of their pressure on the Mustangs back line and the fourth was a volley off of a corner kick. At the half it was NIC 4 - WWCC 0.
The second half saw the Mustangs settle down a little with the ball at their feet and to play better and with a little more intensity. But they were unable to maintain much possession of the ball or to attack with any kind of numbers. However the halftime adjustments worked well for the WWCC defense as they held NIC scoreless in the second half. Final score of the match NIC 4 - WWCC 0. This drops the Mustangs to a 1 - 1 - 0 record on the young season. (Picture of Kyle Howe vs Adams State)
