Two Lightning Delays and Six Goals - Successful Alumni Scrimmage

On Saturday at Rock Springs Junior High the 2015 Mustang Soccer team started to iron out the details to become a formidable team in Region IX.  The alumni from the past 10 years returned to Rock Springs and showed their own skill and experience.

The two teams started the scrimmage trading chances and good amounts of possession.  Several of the 2015 Mustang chances were thwarted in the first half.  The alumni got on the board first with a ricocheted shot from alumnus Gilbert Gonzalez that got past WWCC keeper Austin Pinter.  The score at intermission was 1 - 0 in favor of the alumni.

5 goals were scored in the second half, the second half also had two lightning delays.  The 2015 Mustangs scored the next three goals.  Two goals were scored by Riley Gibson, one after he blocked a clear from the keeper and the second Gibson chipped the keeper from about 30 yards out.  The final goal for the 2015 Mustangs was a nice and simple finish from Carsen Tinker.  After the second lightning delay the alumni struck twice from a clinical finish from Piero Levano and a beautifully placed shot from Kyle Seljaas.  The scrimmage ended in a draw 3 - 3.  Twenty three Mustangs show their first action of the 2015 fall season on Saturday.  The Mustangs know that they have some work to do but they also see a lot of potential in this group.

Mustang Man of the Match: Riley Gibson for his hustle in scoring two goals.
