Comeback Victory for Mustangs in Powell

In one of the better rivalry matches in Region IX North, the Trappers from Northwest College in Powell WY hosted the Mustangs of Western Wyoming Community College.  It was a very heated match that saw 8 yellow card and 1 red card.  The action was primarily controlled by Northwest in the early going but gradually and eventually the Mustangs clawed back into the match with some attacking power and midfield possession.  It was a 0 to 0 halftime score.

The match changed when Briston Lowell was fouled when on a break-away and the Northwest defender was red carded with about 20 minutes to play.  However with 10 minutes to play Northwest found a break in the WWCC defense and scored even though they were 1 man down.  Western fought back and scored off of a corner kick when Ty Nielsen served the ball in and Tanner Trumble headed the ball into the net.  Minutes later Josh Abplanalp was fouled in the box and Ty Nielsen scored the penalty shot with about 90 seconds to go.  The win helps the Mustang record improve to 1 - 1 - 1 and 1 - 0 - 0 in Region IX North.


Mustang Man of the Match: Tanner Trumble for not only fine defense but also the equalizing goal off of a corner kick header.
