SLCC Downs WWCC in 1st Scrimmage

On Thursday the 2017 Men's Soccer Mustangs started their scrimmage season with a home contest against the SLCC Bruins.

All of the 22 members of the WWCC squad saw action and Kade Moeller got his first playing time in the fall after missing the Alumni Scrimmage.

SLCC is a preseason #20 ranked in the NJCAA. The first half was played at a good pace and SLCC had the majority of the possession with the Mustangs finding spots and chances.  After 45 minutes of play the halftime score was tied 0 - 0.

After the intermission SLCC got into the scoring column after 2 set pieces.  So after an hour of play the score was SLCC 2 and WWCC 0.  The Mustangs showed some fight and scored in the 62nd minute off of a Zac Roper corner kick and a Javier Arvayo finish.  The close one goal margin would be extended by SLCC in the 67th minute when they found the back of the net again.  A final SLCC goal would come in the 79th minute.  So, after 90 minutes of play the score for the scrimmage was SLCC 4 and WWCC 1.

Mustang Man of the Match: Javier Arvayo - for his first career goal as a Mustang and making the most of his opportunities.
