On Saturday in Scottsbluff NE the Mustangs faced the Cougars in a scrimmage. This was the third scrimmage for the Mustangs in the week after traveling to Salt Lake City UT and to Craig CO.The Cougars showed their offensive prowess and had most of the action in the first part of their scrimmage in the Mustang side of the field. WNCC scored in 8th minute to take an early lead. WWCC answered back in the 25th minute when Kayden Freeland scored off of a free kick from about 35 yards out. In the 38th minute WNCC scored a second time in the half to take a 2 to 1 lead into the break.
In the second half the Mustangs showed more fight and resolve and started to find more possession of the ball. Sadly the Cougars added to their lead in the 48th minute. The Mustangs scored a second goal in the 67th minute of play when Rene Guadarrama placed a nice ball past the WNCC keeper off of an assist from Josh Crew. In the last 20 plus minutes the Mustangs could not find an equalizing goal. The final score for the scrimmage was 3 to 2 in favor of the home team - WNCC Cougars. The Mustangs played without several of their team members as they are still nursing injuries.
