WWCC Loses to #15 NJC on Sophomore Day

On Saturday in Rock Springs the 2018 Mustangs played their final home match of the season when they hosted the #15 Nationally ranked Plainsmen from Northeastern Junior College.

The last time these two teams played it was a double overtime match.  This match would also be tightly contested throughout.  NJC got on the board in the 5th minute.  Until the past matches the Mustangs did not allow additional goals with minutes of the first goal allowed.  The Mustangs battled back hard and Beamer Wilcken scored a screamer of a goal in the 39th when he blasted back a ball that he collected from a corner kick.  Just when it seemed that the teams would go into the halftime break tied the Plainsmen scored in the 43rd minute.  The score at intermission was NJC 2 and WWCC 1.

In the second half the Mustangs played just as well as NJC did.  But neither team could seem to fins another goal.  Justin Pfeil even had a wonderful bicycle attempt that was cleared off of the line by a NJC defender.  After 90 minutes of hard fought soccer the score was still 2 to 1 in favor of NJC.  The defeat to the Plainsmen drops the WWCC record for 2018 to 1 - 15 - 0.

The five Mustang sophomores - Joe Venhaus, Kade Moeller, Karson Liddell, Josh Rawson and Delaney Seilbach all started and played very well in their final home match of their Mustang careers.

Mustang Man of the Match: Jackson Monk - Jackson has played very well the last couple of matches including this match as an outside back.
