Spring Scrimmage #2 = Victory for WWCC

On Saturday in Rock Springs the 2019 Spring Mustang Soccer team hosted the University of Wyoming Club soccer team.  The scrimmage was set at Rock Springs Junior High following the spring scrimmage between the women's soccer teams from University of Wyoming and Utah State University.

From the opening whistle Western showed their new knack to keep and use possession building from the back to the front.  Making their first appearance for the Mustangs this spring were; Christian Perdomo and Adrian Martinez.  In the opening half the first chance to score belonged to the Cowboys.  This shot forced Kade Moeller who was playing keeper to make 2 quick saves.  The rest of the true chances in the first half belonged to the Mustangs.  Credit to the Cowboy keeper as he made several key saves to keep the scrimmage scoreless at the break.

In the second half the consistent possession and pressure from the Mustangs wore down the Cowboys.  The break in scoring came in the 60th minute when Kingdom Wanjoku scored from a Colton Mathys cross.  Twelve minutes later in the 72nd minute of play the Mustangs found their second goal on the day when Kayden Freeland struck a line drive ball from a poor corner kick clearance from UW.  The third goal on the day was another WWCC goal, this one coming from Josh Rawson off of a Ryan Arevalo assist.  This final goal came in the 83rd minute of play.  Kade Moeller and Nic Kautzman share the shutout victory on the day.  The final score after 90 minutes of play was WWCC 3 and UW 0.
