The Mustangs struck first in the second half when Richard Harris headed in a nice chipped pass from Steven Shelley in the 57th minute. To Trinidad State's credit they would not die and fought to get a tying goal. This tying goal came in the 75th minute when the Mustang defense was unable to clear the ball from the penalty area and TSJC kicked it past the WWCC defense and WWCC keeper Mitch Jensen. The score at the end of regulation was 2 - 2.
In NJCAA soccer the teams play two ten minute sudden death overtime periods, if no team scores at the end of the 20 minutes the match is a draw. WWCC had the wind at their back the first overtime on the hard, wet, muddy Trinidad field. But the Mustangs could not use the wind to their advantage and were still tied after 100 minutes of play. The final 10 minutes the Trojans had the Mustangs on their heels and playing a lot of defense. However the defense held strong and kept the Trojans from scoring. One of the most exciting plays of the double overtime was when Nathan Cutler cleared the ball off of the goal line after it was kicked past the WWCC keeper and defense. The final score for the match was 2 - 2. The Mustang's record is 8 - 5 - 1 and 3 - 3 - 1 in Region IX Play.
