On Friday in Rock Springs the WWCC Men's team squared off against the Generals from Sheridan College. This was a rematch from a great match in early September in Sheridan.
This was one of the most complete matches for the Mustangs with all aspects of the team (forwards, midfielders, defenders and keepers) playing very well.
The Mustangs scored twice in the first half, both goals by Jose Rincon. Goals scored in the 24th minute (unassisted) and the 38th minute assisted by Landon Jacobsen. The halftime score was 2 - 0 for the Mustangs.
The second half was again won by the Mustangs, scoring twice again in the 74th minute from Jesse Cardenas assisted by Alan Wendlandt. The final score in the 78th minute from Taylor Flitton off of a 30 plus yard free kick. The final score was 4 - 0 for the Western team. The team's overall record is now 7 - 2 - 3. And the win clinches a spot in the Region IX playoffs.
Mustang Men of the Match: Jose Rincon for another brace (2 goals) and Mitch Jensen for his fourth shutout on the season, tying the single season mark, setting the WWCC career shutout record and surpassing the WWCC career saves record.
