Jared Jess from Murray High who played for the 2012 Mustangs has returned to Western Wyoming after serving an LDS mission to Mexico.
Jared will join the Mustangs in the spring 2016 semester and spring scrimmage season. He will use the time in the spring to get back physically and into the swing of things academically.
Jared is a midfield player who primarily was used as an outside mid because of his speed and ability to set up other players. As we move forward with Jared he will look to bolster the Western midfield which will be losing 3 of 4 starters due to graduation. Jess may be used as an attacking central midfielder and also as an outside midfielder. He possesses the skills and ability to also give Western minutes as a forward if necessary.
During his freshman campaign Jared had a stellar year. JJ scored 3 goals and added 8 assists. Jess took 53 shots during his first year in 2012 while committing 18 fouls against the opposition. He started 18 matches and played in 52 Halves during his opening season. Jared was an integral part of the 2012 Region IX Championship team, 2012 NJCAA West District Runners-up and participant in the 2012 NJCAA National Tournament in Albany GA. Jared was part of both wins the Mustangs had in penalty shootout that season, Jess scored both of his kicks.
Western is happy to have JJ back with the Mustangs and know that he will continue to excel on the pitch and will set sights on a degree while at WWCC and a chance to continue to play soccer at the next level.
