The first half for the Mustangs saw them chase the better organized Red Storm team. But the defense held strong for much of the first half. Dixie State scored the scrimmage's first goal in the 39th minute, the goal was from around 18 yards out after Dixie State stole a ball deep in WWCC territory. The scored remained 1 - 0 at the half time break.
The second half of the scrimmage saw the Mustangs gain more control of the match and play a lot better. However the scoreboard would lean in favor of the Red Storm. Dixie State scored in the 53rd, 72nd and 79th minute. It looked as if the Mustangs would be shut out but in the 87th minute Miguel Maca set a square pass to Jorge Chacon at about the 18 yard box and Jorge was able to kick the ball into the bottom corner of the goal past the keeper. The final score to the scrimmage was Dixie State 4 - Western Wyoming 1.
Overall it was a good initiation for the "new" Mustangs into the ranks of college soccer, and saw the Mustangs as a whole improve throughout the entire match even though the scoreboard did not indicate it.

Workhorse of the Match - Jorge Chacon. Not only did Jorge score the lone goal of the match and his first as a Mustang, he played a very smart match and his work rate was incredible.
