First official scrimmage a thriller

After a good two weeks of training camp the 2013 Western Wyoming Men's Soccer finally played their first official scrimmage.  Western traveled to Westminster on Saturday to play against the Griffins Junior Varsity team.  This has been a tradition for the Mustangs for the last six or so season.
The Mustangs started slow looking very cautious and tentative for the first 5 - 10 minutes of the scrimmage.  But the Mustangs settled down and played much better for the rest of the scrimmage.  In the 45 minute, around with 30 seconds to play in the half the Griffins beat the Western defense and notched a shot into the side netting to take a 1 - 0 lead into the half.

The Mustangs continued to improve their play and possession throughout the scrimmage.  In the 64th minute Vitor Nazareth was fouled in the penalty box and earned a penalty kick.  Bernard Manuel stepped up to the kick and evened the score at 1 goal a piece.  The score stayed the same until the end of regulation.
The team decided to play golden goal overtime after the 90 minutes were over.  In the 96 minute Brock Mosier received a pass and dribbled around and through about 4 Griffin defenders to score his first goal as a Mustang and the scrimmage winner for the Mustangs in the 96th minute of the match.
Twenty of the twenty two players played in the first scrimmage.  Including all 3 keepers, each getting 30 minutes of play.
The following sophomores continued their playing career for the Mustangs; DJ Searcy, Zach Plitt, Adrian Sanchez, Bernard Manuel, Kyle Seljaas, Taylor West, Nate Pierce and Phil Angerhofer.
The following players debuted for the red, white and black; Eric Walker, Taylor Bell, Vitor Nazareth, Chandler Young, Bryant Cox, Piero Levano, Tyler Trumble, Chris Clymore, Raul Cavazos, Adrian Montano, Brock Mosier, Dallin Taggart and Rico Mendez.
