Western back to Winning Ways

On Saturday in Rock Springs after a nice Sophomore recognition the Mustangs played for the last time on their home turf in the 2013 season.  The sophomore send off match was against the Western Nebraska Cougars.  Western Wyoming looked pretty good throughout most of the 1st half but the Cougars were the only team to find the goal in the 42nd minute.  The teams headed into the halftime break with a WNCC lead of 1 - 0.
After the intermission the Mustangs made their necessary changes and applied more pressure on the WNCC defense and it paid off when Vitor Nazareth scored in the 56th minute.  Brock Mosier was credited with the assist.  Just 11 minutes later the Mustangs took the lead when Rico Mendez slotted a ball past the Cougar keeper.  Two assists were credited to the Mustangs on the play as DJ Searcy started the play, passed it to Vitor Nazareth who then gave it to Rico Mendez.  The scoring was finished by Alejandro Bermudez in the 81st minute, this was Alejandro's first goal of the season.  It was assisted by Raul Cavazos.  The final score was 3 - 1 and brings the Mustang's 2013 record to 8 - 9 - 1 and 4 - 7 - 1 in Region IX play.
