Mustangs drop Regular Season Finale

On the finale of the Region IX regular season the Mustangs traveled over the mountain from Powell WY to Sheridan WY and played the Generals from Sheridan College.  The match was fairly meaningless in the standings as the Generals already knew that they were eliminated from the playoffs and the Mustangs knew that they were in the 6th spot in the Region, could not move higher or lower in their seed.
Several starters were not to play due to nagging injuries or yellow card accumulation worries.  Zach Plitt, Chandler Young and Bernard Manuel did not play.  The field at Sheridan was soggy and bumpy and made it difficult for the Mustangs to maintain their possession through their short passing game.
Western had several shots and chances throughout the match but could not finish any, missing the frame most times as the Sheridan keeper only had 1 save the entire match.
The lone goal of the match was from Sheridan off of a free kick shortly before the halftime whistle.  The Generals sent in the free kick from roughly 25 yards away.  The target player over ran the ball but stuck his leg out behind him.  The player's leg and the ball connected and floated into the top far corner of the goal and past the Mustang defense and keeper Taylor West.  Vitor Nazareth and DJ Searcy had the most shots on the day for the Mustangs but the offensive unit was still not on track and failed again to score a goal.  The final score was Sheridan 1 and Western 0.  This was Sheridan's first victory over the Mustangs.  The two teams have played sporadically since 2005.

Mustang Man of the Match – Kyle Seljaas - Kyle was a big boost for the team's morale and played extremely well as an center defensive mid winning almost all balls in the air.
