LCCC Stops WWCC Region IX North Momentum

On Wednesday in Cheyenne WY the WWCC Mustangs played against the LCCC Golden Eagles, their oldest rivals for the second time of the season.  The Mustangs were looking to sweep LCCC for the first time in 3 years.

Some changes on the WWCC back line due to a yellow card suspension of Mike Wolken did not give the Mustangs a lot of confidence, but the starting four defenders of Danny Becerra, Matthew Ochoa, Karson Liddell and Zac Roper played well but had a difficult time of keeping a desperate LCCC team off of the board.  LCCC scored in the 13th minute and 38th minute with the wind at their back.  WWCC had 6 shots on frame in the first half while playing into the wind but were not able to score.  The halftime score was 2 for LCCC and 0 for WWCC.

Sadly the wind was not a helpful factor for the Mustangs in the second half and LCCC's early goal in the 48th minute deflated any comeback hopes for the Mustangs.  The final score was 3 to 0 for LCCC.  The loss brought the WWCC record to 6 - 7 - 1 and the WWCC Region IX North record to 4 - 2 - 1.  Western can still clinch a home playoff match and possibly a Region IX North title if they win their final Region IX North match at home versus Northwest College in a week.

Mustang Man of the Match: Danny Becerra - played very well with a new center back partner and a new outside back partner.  Was a true team captain on the day.
