Joe was the starting keeper for the Mustangs during his freshman year. Venhaus was also the freshman keeper in the Region with the most All-Region votes. During his first year Joe had 132 Saves, allowed 43 goals, saved 75.4% of all shots he saw, started 20 matches, played in 40 halves and tallied 4 shutouts.
Joe has done a stellar job in the classroom as a student and is on track to graduate a semester early, in December of 2018. Joe was on the Dean's Honor Roll for both the fall 2017 and the spring 2018 semesters.
In the off-season and spring Joe did a great job of becoming stronger while maintaining his speed and agility. Joe worked countless hours on his skills as a keeper. Venhaus developed into a vocal leader for the team and always gave his best effort in training. In our spring scrimmages of 2018 Joe Venhaus recorded 15 saves and 1 shutout. In the shutout of Westminster, Joe included a penalty kick save.
As a sophomore we know that Joe will be pushed for playing time and starting position by incoming freshman Nick Kautzman. Joe should be relish the opportunity to be driven each and everyday by another quality keeper. Venhaus should provide a calm and mature leadership to what will be a young Mustang team. Congrats Joe, we are happy to have you back minding the Mustang net.
