Kayden Freeland a rising sophomore at Western Wyoming Community College will be returning to play his second year for the Mustang Soccer program. Kayden is a 2018 graduate from Roy High in Roy UT.
Kayden had a very successful year during his freshman campaign. Kayden was a regular starter and player throughout the season for the Mustangs. Kayden's 2018 stats were; 24 Shots, 1 Goal, 4 Assists, 12 Fouls, 21 Starts and 44 Halves Played. Kayden led the 2018 Mustangs in starts for the season and also led the team in halves played. Freeland played mainly as an outside back but also saw time as an outside mid when the team needed him. For his efforts, Kayden was voted onto the 2nd Team All Region IX North this fall for a defender.
Kayden benefited from his time in the weight room during the off-season as he added strength and muscle mass. Freeland also took advantage of his opportunities to become better as a soccer player during the many winter futsal times and spring training sessions. During the 2019 spring scrimmages Kayden played in all four scrimmages primarily as an outside back. He scored two goals for WWCC this spring. Kayden scored a long range shot versus UW Club team and then a near perfect free kick against the UVU Club team.
For the fall 2019 season we foresee Kayden being a leader for the squad on and off of the field. The Mustangs will use his skills at either an outside back or an outside mid again. Kayden is an Exercise Science major and is planning to earn his Associate's Degree from Western Wyoming as early as May of 2020. Western is pumped to have Kayden return to WWCC for his sophomore year and know that it will be another memorable season.
