Mustangs Blank the Griffins

The Westminster JV team traveled up to Rock Springs to face off against the Mustangs of WWCC.  This has become a good match for both teams in the last couple of years.  These same two teams squared off against each other in a scrimmage match in August down in Salt Lake.  The Mustangs started off the match on fire and scored early when Jarom Stuart blasted a shot that bounced off of the goal post and Bernie Manuel was able to get a foot to and score.  The play is ruled a goal for Manuel and an assist for Stuart.  Shortly after that play Greg Howard was able to corral a long pass from Mitch Jensen and was able to cut and beat a couple of Griffin defenders and scored the Mustang's second goal.  The final goal of the half was when Taylor Egbert slotted a ball to Jared Jess who tattooed a ball into the net.  The Jess goal left the scoreboard showing 3 - 0 in favor of the Mustangs at the half time break.
The Mustangs continued to dominate play in the second half along with the chance to try new combinations and play a lot of players in the last forty five minutes.  There was only one goal scored in the second half and that was when Taylor Egbert hit Jarom Stuart in stride who easily beat the Westminster keeper for his goal of the match.  The defense for the Mustangs, namely Christian Mendoza, Logan Anderson, Cody Nice, Nate Cutler and Mitch Cooper should be commended for their effort and keeping almost all chances from Westminster away from the Mustang goal.  WWCC keeper Mitch Jensen earned the shutout, which is his 3rd for the season tying him for the most shutouts in a season in WWCC history.  The final score was 4 - 0 in favor of WWCC.  The Mustang's record is now 7 - 5 - 0.

Mustang Man of the Match –Greg Howard - Greg played very well at his position and has really done what his team needs him to do for us to have success and goal.  Greg scored a great individual goal today also.
