On a crazy Friday night in Trinidad CO after a delay waiting for officials and only one official showing up the Trinidad State Trojans hosted the Western Wyoming Mustangs.
These two teams are very well matched and the first half proved so as never team was able to score and the score was tied 0 - 0 at the break.
In the second half the action was very fast and furious. Trinidad State scored in the 59th minute on a controversial non off sides call. This was the first goal that Western had surrendered in 547 minutes (6 plus matches), a record shutout streak for the Mustangs. The Mustangs tied up the score in the 78th minute off of Jesse Cardenas goal who was set up by Nate Cutler. The match remained tied for the rest of regulation. However the Mustangs suffered injuries to two of their starters in the dying moments of the match, both Landon Jacobsen and Jackson Hatch went down with injuries. So after 90 minutes the score was 1 - 1.
In the first overtime period the Trojans scored a goal off of a quick and direct cross into the box in the 94th minute. NJCAA overtime is sudden victory so the match was over at the goal. The loss drops the Mustangs record to 10 - 3 - 3 and is their first loss since September 9th a month ago.
Mustang Man of the Match: Nate Cutler - for great midfield play both offensively and defensively and an amazing pass.
