Kota Freeland from Roy High to WWCC - 2016 Recruit

Photos from Freeland Family
Kota Freeland a recent graduate from Roy High School in Roy UT has committed to play soccer for Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY.

At RHS, Kota started as an outside midfield player.  He also is capable of playing an attacking player like a forward or an attacking midfielder.  Kota possesses the versatility to even see time as an outside defender if necessary for the Mustangs.

Freeland played for the club team Ogden Outlaws for 7 years. He was one of the top scorers in the comp league during the 2014 season. For the Ogden Outlaws, Kota helped lead his team to three consecutive tournament finals including the Park City Extreme Cup.

Kota has played soccer since he was 5 years old.   He came to the WWCC campus in January during an open tryout.  He impressed many with some good footwork and quick soccer skills.  Kota will need to work on adding some muscle and strength and continue to improve on his speed and quickness.  Some of the positive abilities that Kota possesses are his vision, an excellent left foot, how he talks on the field and great passing ability.

We at Western believe that Kota will fill a need that we have as an outside midfield player.  His 1 v 1 skills will come in very useful to help WWCC maintain possession and move the ball into wide and attacking positions.  Congrats to Kota Freeland and we look forward to many great matches with you in the Red, Black and White.
