WWCC Still Perfect in Region IX North

Western WY faced off with a Region IX North foe and their second oldest rival against the Western NE Cougars at Crossroads Field.

For the get go the Mustangs played aggressively and attacked a Cougar team that was not matching the WWCC intensity.  The fast start paid off for Mustangs scoring in the 5th and 12th minute both off of set pieces.  Both goals were assisted by Ty Nielsen, the first goal was a header from Kyle Tilley that found the back side of the goal.  The second goal was off of a corner kick that Vic Gonzalez headed past the WNCC keeper for a 2 to 0 lead for Western.  Shortly after the two to zero lead lightning strikes were in the area and the match was delayed for nearly 90 minutes.
After the lightning layoff Western NE played a lot better finding possession and an offensive attack.  The halftime lead for WWCC was 2 to 0.

In the second half the Cougars continued to press the play but Western Wyoming was up to the defensive challenge and kept the Cougars off of the scoreboard.  In the 85th minute Briston Lowell scored an insurance goal off of an assist by Victor Gonzalez.  The win brings the overall record for Western to 5 - 3 - 1 and their Region IX North record to 3 - 0 - 0 .

Mustang Man of the Match:  Victor Gonzalez - had an assist and scored the second goal of the match. Vic was a consistent threat against WNCC, had 3 shots on goal.
