Goals Abound in Win versus Riverland

 On Saturday the Western Wyoming Mustangs played their third match in three days in Bismarck ND.  This match they squared off against the Riverland Community College Blue Devils from MN.  The Mustangs started off the scoring in the 12th minute when Raul Cavazos broke down the defense and assisted Bernie Manuel for the goal.  Western stroke again in the 15th minute when Bernie Manuel sent a great through ball to Rico Mendez who calmly beat the keeper.  The Blue Devils got their only goal of the match in the 32nd minute when they cut the ball into the box and beat Taylor Bell to the bottom left corner.  The Mustangs scored one more goal in the first half in the 35th minute.  Rico Mendez drew a penalty when he was taken out by the keeper, Raul Cavazos nicely slotted it into the back of the net.  The halftime score was 3 -1 in favor of the Mustangs.
The second half showed more Mustang domination.  The scoring did not start until the 60th minute when Bernie Manuel got the ball past the defense and laid it off for Rico Mendez for his second goal of the match.  Seven minutes later Bernie Manuel scored his second goal of the match, this goal started with a nice pass from Chandler Young then Bernie was about to dribble and get past several RCC defender before he scored the goal.  The final goal of the match was scored by Raul Cavazos with a Kyle Seljaas assist in the 74th minute.  The final score was 6 - 1 for the Mustangs.  The win brings the 2013 overall record to 2 - 1 - 0.  A good start on a 3 match road trip.

Mustang Man of the Match – Rico Mendez - Rico had his second brace (2 goals in a match) of the weekend and drew a penalty for another goal for the Mustangs.
