Western Wyoming Defeats Western Nebraska

On Friday in Scottsbluff NE the Mustangs and their second oldest rival the Cougars from Western Nebraska played again.  The Mustangs were playing on their second road trip of the week.  The play was fast and of a high quality throughout most of the first half.  But the crossbar and close misses are all that either team found and the match was tied 0 - 0 at the intermission.
In the second half the Mustangs took more control of the possession and found many more chances and balls behind the Cougar defense.  The first goal for the Mustangs came in the 52nd minute off of a corner kick that Rico Mendez sent into the WNCC penalty box.  Brock Mosier was the last Mustang to touch the ball as it found its way past the Cougar keeper.  The match continued in favor of the Mustangs and the second goal for the Mustangs happened when Vitor Nazareth took a 50 yard free kick that bounced in the box and found it's way into the back of the net.  It looked like Western Wyoming was going to have another shutout on the season but a miscommunication with the keeper and the defense helped the ball into the goal with seconds left.  The Mustangs left NE with a 2 - 1 victory and a 6 - 4 - 0 record with a 2 - 2 - 0 Region IX record.
