Western Wyo Welcomes Colton Mathys

A National Letter of Intent has been signed by Colton Mathys from Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum Utah.  Colton is a soon to be graduate of the class of 2018 from MCHS.

Colton is the youngest of 5 children and the third triplet born to Ken and Tanya Mathys.  Colton has played soccer since he was very young.  His older brothers teaching him the ropes.  Being from Logan, Utah Colton has spent many hours skiing, fishing, being in the mountains with his family and of course playing soccer.

As a Mountain Crest Mustang, Colton received many honors including; three varsity soccer letters, being named the MCHS 2017 Offensive Player of the Year and being the 2017 MCHS leading scorer.  As a Junior, Colton was named to the Herald Journal's All-Valley Boy's Soccer team.  Along with the All-Valley recognition, Colton was also names to the All Region team.
In his high school career Colton scored 12 goals.  In his last three seasons he helped the MCHS Mustangs advance to the UHSAA soccer playoffs, reaching the quarterfinals in 2016.  Colton attended a tryout in Rock Springs in the winter months and showed he was capable of using his size and speed to his advantage.  Mathys usually plays as an outside midfielder but can also play as a forward.  We at Western feel he can play at either of these positions but he also has the skill set to be able to play and help out Western at other positions.
