Western was playing without their leading scorer Beamer Wilcken due to a head injury sustained in the previous match versus Sheridan. The WWCC game plan was to keep the score low and try to grind out a victory. Northwest got off to a fast start and destroyed the Mustang plan. Northwest scored in the 11th and 16th minute to take a 2 to 0 lead. In the 41st minute Josh Crew drew the Mustangs back to within one goal when he stole a back pass and finished around the keeper. Again the Mustangs were within fighting distance at halftime with a score of 2 to 1 in favor of Northwest.
The second half started poorly again for the Mustangs when Northwest scored in the 57th and 67th minute of play to take a commanding 4 to 1 lead. The Mustangs showed no quit on this day and rallied the offense to put themselves in a position to get a point out of the match. In the 74th minute Nicaise Kangah scored his first goal for the Mustangs off of a Kayden Freeland assist. Just one minute later Kingdom Wanjoku scored from a Nicaise Kangah assist. These two quick Mustang goals made the score WWCC 3 and Northwest 4. In the remaining fifteen minutes the WWCC offense created chances but just could not score another goal to tie the match. This loss makes the 2018 Mustang record 0 - 8 - 0 and Region IX North 0 - 4 - 0.
Mustang Man of the Match: Nicaise Kangah - for his goal and assist. He really sparked the WWCC comeback.
