Western was the first team on the board in the 10th minute when a Kayden Freeland free kick from 40 yards out was blocked by the Sheridan keeper but came back into play. Beamer Wilcken collected the loose ball and played it to Colton Mathys who calmly placed it into the net. The WWCC lead did not last long as Sheridan evened the game at one in the 12th minute. Sadly some defensive lapses from WWCC helped Sheridan to goals in the 17th and the 25th minute. What once was a lead was now a 2 goal deficit for the Mustangs. In the 36th minute another Kayden Freeland long distance free kick caused trouble for Sheridan. Freeland placed the ball right on the head of Beamer Wilcken who scored and brought the score to Western 2 and Sheridan 3 at the break.
After the break the Mustangs seemed to lose some energy and steam in the second half. The match was not was free flowing and much more rigid and defensive minded. Sheridan would score a 4th goal in the 67th minute. The Mustangs could not muster enough offense in the second half to get back into the match and were defeated by Sheridan 4 to 2. This defeat drags the 2018 record for WWCC down to 0 - 7 - 0 and Region IX North record to 0 - 3 - 0.
Mustang Man of the Match: Colton Mathys for the early goal and continued steady play.
