The Mustangs changed many things during their training sessions in the week to try to get more consistency for all aspects of the team. The hopes were these changes would jump start success for WWCC. Sadly the Pronghorns used a direct approach towards the Mustang goal and the changes with a lack of communication doomed the Mustangs. GC scored four goals in the first ten minutes while WWCC was just getting into the groove of the match. No other goals would be scored in the first half as WWCC started to play better despite their huge early deficit.
In the second half the flow of the play and the momentum was actually on the side of the Mustangs. However, Western could not get the ball into the GC net. Nic Kautzman replaced Joe Venhaus in goal for WWCC in the second half and played very well not allowing a goal and having 5 saves. The final score at the end of 90 minutes was Gillette 4 and WWCC 0. This loss deflates the 2018 Mustang record to 0 - 12 - 0 and 0 - 5 - 0 in Region IX North.
Mustang Man of the Match: Gunner Erickson - Gunner was had 3 shots on the day and added lots of pressure on Gillette's back line and keeper.
